25th August marked the 59th Janmanakshatram of our beloved Guru, His Holiness Shree Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji. This is a pivotal point in his holiness’ religious journey as it paves the way for his 60th or “Shashtyabdhi” Janmanakshatram. Adhering to the traditions that need to be followed, the commemoration for the same witnessed a myriad of homas ranging from Dhanvantari shanti to janmanakshatra homa. The objectives of these traditional homes lay emphasis on both the well being of His Holiness and also on the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic. The grandiose celebration was initiated impeccably by the existing students of Vidyapeetham and the alumni of the same. Swamiji’s beloved family (before taking the Sanyasa Deeksha) were also present. It is also important to note the heart warming speeches given by Shri Nagaraja Acharya and Shri Prasanna Acharya about the legacy left behind by his Holiness. This was followed by the presentation of a book called ‘Krithi Smrithi’ – a compilation of the Krithis written by His Holiness. This was written by Shri Om Prakash.

Soon after his Holiness Shri Sushreendra Theertha Swamiji’s speech about the greateness of his Guru, His Holiness Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji gave a very apt talk that is in line with today’s problems and how we must approach them. He remarks that one must make the most of any opportunity given and to not let it slip. Building on these lines, his Holiness’ words instilled courage in us and encouraged us to face challenges without any fear. He stresses on the fact that, in this journey of perseverance to reach the top, one must also indulge himself/herself in the work of the parents and their gurus.
